Anorexia Nervosa - What to look for:
- Weight Loss
- Dwindling Appetite
- Avoiding eating with others
- Making excuses not to eat
- Secretive behaviour
- Mood swings, tearfulness and anger
- Menstrual disturbance
- Excessive exercise
- Poor nail, skin and hair condition
- Coldness
- Numbness in fingers and toes
- Dizziness
- Fainting
- Downy hair
Bulimia – What to look for:
- Binging and vomiting
- Laxative abuse – look out for empty
packets
- Mood Swings
- Throat and mouth problems
- Foul smelling breath
- Stomach cramps
- Possible alcohol or substance abuse
- Deceitfulness
Note: People suffering from Bulimia do not necessarily loss weight.
Compulsive Eating – what to look for.
- Eating when upset
- Eating much more than what they wanted to
- Thinking about food all the time
- Feeling bad about themselves when they
have eating too much
- Feeling panic when they can’t get to food
or if they don’t think they have enough
- Feeling hot or warm a lot
